To help you determine how I can assist you in reaching your therapy goals and whether I am a good fit for you, it may be helpful for you to know more about me. I earned two degrees from Arizona State University: a Master of Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with emphasis in intercultural communication and organizational communication.
My early work experience included administration and management in the accounting field and in the Distance Learning & Technology and Counseling Psychology departments at Arizona State University. I became interested in becoming a counselor when I worked as the coordinator of the Counselor Training Center at ASU. After completing an internship at LaFrontera-Empact Suicide Prevention Center, I served as an outpatient therapist at Mountain Health & Wellness, an integrated health care facility serving Apache Junction and rural areas in Arizona. Working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures with a variety of presenting concerns, I believe in an individual’s capacity and desire to improve her or his life. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I help clients access their own strengths and resources for self-understanding and meaning-making. Clients’ goals often include well-being, peace and resolution; my goal is to help you get there.
In addition to my passion for counseling and developing meaningful relationships, I bring a wealth of life experience to our counseling sessions. I am the mother of two adult children and having journeyed through the loss of my infant son, I help individuals and families who struggle with their own unique grief experience. I bring compassion and understanding when I meet with you where you are at and listen to your story.
I am licensed through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners and certified through the National Board of Certified Counselors. I am also a member of the American Counseling Association and the Arizona Counselors Association.
